Free trial
Our new free trial simplified approach includes a renewable free 100 minutes per month.
The free trial subscription doesn’t have an expiration date, to retain as many subscribers as possible.
VMAF calculation
VMAF is a commonly adopted metric for encoding quality assessment.
We are now providing it to facilitate an improved evaluation of Beamr’s service.
HLS and Dash packaging using GPAC packager
We added Dash to our packaging options, and transitioned our Backend to work with GPAC instead of FFMPEG.
Using GPAC, we can offer customers greater flexibility and professional customization (=VidOps) options that are impossible or difficult to achieve with FFmpeg alone. Whether it’s custom manifest configurations for multi-CDN setups, advanced DRM packaging, or seamless ad insertion workflows, GPAC ensures that we can meet high-end customer demands efficiently and at scale.
Turnaround times tracking
This feature addresses the need for detailed metrics across various stages of the workflow, from file upload to output writing, ensuring actionable insights into system efficiency. By surfacing these metrics in the UI and analytics tools, we empower users to monitor performance, identify delays, and collaborate with Beamr to optimize turnaround times, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
The real time factor which measures just the processing time, is reported to the UI :

Real-time factor is a common encoder performance measurement, calculated as: Minutes produced / Processing time.
New FFMPEG version
Switching to the new version of FFMPEG plugin, which includes performance optimization.

Playground
Our new Playground goal is to enable an intuitive experience for new users that are evaluating and checking out Beamr, while minimizing friction required to get outputs and showcase value from the service.
The playground is the new landing page, and continues to serve as such until at least one workflow is defined (or the tenant was converted to a FFMPEG plugin customer).
In the playground the user can quickly upload videos to evaluate, changing features applied and encoding settings in a easy manner.
Whenever a file is uploaded it is processed using the current settings:
After viewing the outputs, the playground CTAs are either to create a cloud workflow or to book a call to explore customization options, deployment methods and other solutions like FFMPEG plugin.
*The view video page - is where the user evaluates Beamr’s outcomes - Savings, subjective quality, objective quality , processing time etc.
Some features are upcoming for this page, specifically VMAF calculation and turnaround times tracking.
Preserve artistic intent
This feature is only presented when the preset configuration calls out for a resize/ABR ladder streaming.
For Playground uploads, it is always preserving artistic intent, and the user has no access to this feature in the playground settings.
